At CMS, as WOTC subject matter experts and service providers since 1997, we receive a lot of questions via our website. This week we received a questions via the chat box on the website:
Can the WOTC be applicable for part-time employees? Those working less than 30 hours per week?
CMS says: Absolutely! We work with hundreds of employers, franchises, grocery stores, fast food places, small and large businesses who employee part time workers who qualify under the Work Opportunity Tax Credit. Whether part time, or full time, the WOTC certified employee has to work a minimum of 120 hours in order for you to receive a 25% tax credit on the first $6,000 of their wages. 40% tax credit of the first $6,000 in wages is available at 400 hours. It may take someone working less than 30 hours a week a little longer to reach the 120 hours, or 400 hours, but they are still eligible employees.
