This summer, if you’re hiring individuals who are age 16 – 17 and a resident of an Empowerment Zone, or Rural Renewal County you may be eligible for a WOTC tax credit for hiring the individual(s). The Qualified Summer Youth Employee is determined as:
Any individual who:
- Is age 16 through 17 on the hire date and
- Is a resident of a Federal Empowerment Zone (EZ) or Rural Renewal County and
- Has not been employed by the same employer prior to the 90-day summer period between May 1 and September 15.
The maximum tax credit for the Summer Youth target group is $1,200.
