CMS’s Brian Kelly answers your questions about the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
Today’s WOTC Wednesday question: How Long Does it Take to Receive a WOTC Certification?
CMS Responds: Honestly, this is going to vary by state. There’s some states like Connecticut which is actually two years behind. Indiana isn’t that great either. Then we get other states like Texas and Florida that actually turn these documents around in a couple of weeks. So, it depends upon the state that you’re in. The good news is CMS never stops working, so we’re going to try to obtain that tax credit as soon as we possibly can for you.
States with an electronic submission process, do work much faster. Last year, the government allocated grants to 12 states with significant WOTC backlogs in an effort to improve their processing times.
