CMS’s Brian Kelly answers your questions about the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
Today’s WOTC Wednesday question: What is the (WOTC) Tax Credit Amount for the Long-Term Unemployment Recipient?
CMS Responds: So first of all, under long-term unemployment recipient, they have to be unemployed for over 26 weeks. The amount will be determined based on how many hours they work after you bring them onboard. The hourly benchmarks are 120 hours to receive 25% of their gross pay up to the first $6,000 in wages. And the second is if they work over 400 hours, which is 40% of the first $6,000 in wages, which is a $2,400 tax credit.
